Preface
This guide goes with the Release Order Book, which tells the story in the order the games came out. Each section goes with one entry and gathers what that entry established: the terms and lore it introduced, where each character stands when it ends, the questions it leaves open, and a few facts about the game it comes from.
Each section is safe to read as soon as you have finished the matching entry. Nothing in a section draws on an entry that comes later in release order. Because the games reveal things in a different order from the one they happen in, the questions here are not the same as in the Chronological Companion: some that stay open there have already been answered here, and some that are settled there are still open. The final section, The Missing Links, covers cancelled and lost games and assumes you have finished the whole book.
Entries of the book are named in bold italics, as in Birth by Sleep, to set them apart from the games they adapt, which are named in plain text.
